Masak - masak pencuci mulut ~ Len Chee Kang

Don't ask me to classify this dessert because I don't know my recipe falls under which category as I make it to my own preference i.e. putting in whatever that I like. Some may say that I'm over - influenced by the Chinese but I think it has a Malay touch to it too. If you Google "len chee kang", "lai chi kang", "lai chee kang" or whatever spelling version, you'll find both Malay and Chinese recipe versions but heck, this is Malaysia so anything goes as long as it's food and it's good. Both versions can be served hot or cold, and ingredients are usually similar so don't fret too much over it.

Tea break @ The Teapot Deli, SACC, Shah Alam

After a round of shopping and before the next one, we had a break to let our poor legs rest. Looking for a nice baju kurung is not an easy job, mind you. SACC is a good place to look for nice and fancy frills, though price can be on the high side. It's known that some celebrities and mak datin come here to shop at the boutiques. But at least you know that not everyone in Shah Alam will be wearing the same thing as yours.

And so we end up in the Teapot Deli.

Teh Tarik Place @ Empire - your upbeat Malay stall

What brought us into this place was this hanging rattan chair. We thought it would be cool to swing around while eating and chit chatting hehehe :D The concept of this place is what you'd call an upbeat, expensive Mamak / hawker stall.

The Tea Republic @ Bangsar Shopping Centre ~ my reading spot

Admit it, though you love everybody, sometimes you just wish for a quiet time alone with nobody. Me, that covers tucking in at a nice, cozy shop with great accompanying tit bits. Which brought me all the way to The Tea Republic @ 2nd floor in Bangsar Shopping Centre.

And no, you don't necessarily need to talk all the time over tea. Sorry, I guess I went against the message above but anyway "ttr [the tea republic] is all about celebrating the citeazen within". Let's celebrate the tea - me ~ =D

My Penang Solo Stumble 04 ~ Tree Monkey Restaurant @ Tropical Spice Garden, Teluk Bahang, Penang

One of my favourite picture spot during my visit was the Tropical Spice Garden, situated along Teluk Bahang after a seaside drive by Tg Bungah. Boasted to be an eco – friendly park, this park houses various herbal plants in lush tropical setting. Prior to entering, you’ll be spritzed with a citronella spray which acted as mosquito repellent. How is that for eco – friendly?

I started my visit with a food peek at Tree Monkey, an al fresco diner serving Northern Thai cuisine. The place has a serve – no – pork status since they serve alcohol, opens daily at 9 am – 12 am. Apparently they served vegetarian too.

They were having mocktail promotion at sunset hours at that time so I had my lovely Sunset Paradise with some appetizers. The waiter was like, “It’s not sunset yet.”, and I was like “I don’t care”. LOL

A Delicious Moment @ Delicious Cafe, One Utama Damansara

Breakfast time! ^_^  An excuse to drop by at Delicious again after some time.

Corned Beef Hash with Roasted Cherry Tomatoes & two Fried Eggs. Initially I thought it'll be served as egg dropped on top of a mushy beef hash, the yolk soaking in but this is OK. i just dipped my hash into the yolk instead. Very hearty. Bread a bit dry though.

Roasted Vegetable Salad with Baby Spinach & Oriental Dressing. Tangy oriental dressing, a hint of lime juice there. Colourful ^_^

Breakfast hour is from 8 to 12 am with a special breakfast menu and kids menu. Dessert and other mains available.

Deliciously delicious @ Delicious Cafe, OneUtama

Tucked cozily in OneUtama new wing, a cafe - concept eatery that pleasure you with its food and ambiance. In this, Eastern & Oriental never fails to amaze.

Balsamic Wild Mushroom Salad. It's savory, and the feta cheese gives it a nice twist and the pine nuts a crunch. A good entree.

My favourite main: Pan Seared Cod served with Sauteed Prawns on Ratatouille & Fried Potatoes

Classic old: English Fish & Chips. A bit weird though, the way they wrap the fish is like goreng pisang.

The Chocolate Brownie is to die for!! Literally, a killer if for 1 person for after a heavy meal, the love at first bite turns awry after the 10th bite. What better excuse to share?

Ice Orange tea and Ice Lychee tea for a hot day quencher.

Other than the Western menu, Delicious offers Oriental, light snacks which they called Grazing (like a cow?), pasta, sandwiches and burgers, and a variety of salad. Once in a while I just love dropping by for a salad in excuse for dessert =) Lunch time on weekdays see lone rangers tucked with a good book or iPad, simply just for the food or ambiance.

My Perak Solo Stumble 03 - a day on Ipoh field

Traffic was still OK considering that it's still the early days of raya. After a while of aimless driving, I came across the Padang Ipoh or Ipoh Field is located on Jalan S.P. Seenivasagam. Behind it is the aristocratic club for royals, the Ipoh Club.

Soothing a sweet tooth @ Gelare, The Curve Damansara

For a doctor, I have a super sweet tooth ^o^ The amount of carbs and sugar that I consumed can shock all my patients to cardiac arrest if I ever disclosed them (just kidding).

This is after a 2 hour gym work out where I was absolutely craving for a sweetie =D My fluffy pancakes topped with banana, drizzled with maple syrup, a dollop of cream and a scoop of Chocolate Overload. Wai XD

Some ice cream have alcohol content though.

A blast of breakfast @ Ikea, Damansara

To cut short of what that is already famous, Ikea breakfast especially on weekend is always a blast. You'll see a long que in front of Ikano entrance starting at 8.30 am. And when the door finally opens, there is a mad dash to get into another que upstairs at the Ikea cafe for the RM 1 breakfast.

RM 1 for a plate of fried rice, now that's quite a deal. The mineral water is RM 1 too, but not that juice that's why it was somewhere behind.

Gravlax: cured salmon, dipped in sour mustard and popped into your mouth = a burst of food sensation XD
Oh, don't forget the lemon. Sometimes I rolled the salmon with the salad.

Smoking hot and the crunchy skin dripping with fat... How can you resist these chicken wings? I definitely can't.

Desserts! Egg tart and Daim cake.

Daily Fresh on one cold rainy day at Sungai Buloh overhead bridge stop

It's rainy season again with gray sky above daily. And traffic jam at certain hours. The tired me decided to stop at the Sungai Buloh overhead bridge restaurant for a break and a food hunt.

A cold treat is nice on a cold day as much as a hot drink can provide. At daily fresh I decided to have the IceKimo, sour sop flavor. Nothing extraordinary. The guava topping is a bit gooey for my taste.

What I enjoyed was the corn in cup, piping hot mixed with mayonaise and raisins. Heavens! I never thought that I'd find such ever in Peninsular as I first discovered such food combination back then in Sabah!

Apparently there are other combinations too for the corn, for the adventurous lot.

More healthy ice treats - J.Co Donuts and Coffee

I actually was looking for YogurBerry outlet at Kota Damansara' Giant but found J.Co instead, another big donuts name in Malaysia. But unlike Big Apple and Krispy Cream, J.Co offered an additional bonus, a healthy choice of frozen yogurt.

I had my J.Cool yogurt with toppings of fresh strawberry, juicy orange slice, roasted almonds, chocolate chips and wafer. It's a "couple size" with 3 toppings + 2 extra for an extra charge of RM2 each. RM 15... Like I said before, being healthy sure is expensive...

All their tables have description of their coffee ^_^

Healthy frozen delight - Tutti Frutti

I'm officially on a healthier diet, maybe. Did I just say that? OK, I'm just trying to get over the craving to eat pure, creamy ice cream so in replacement of that, the answer would be yogurt ice cream @ frozen yogurt or whatever it is. My pit stop; Tutti Frutti outlet in Tropicana City Mall, Damansara.

A cup of original flavour + kiwi flavour doused with chocolate chip, raisins, oreo cookie powder, strawberry and peach slice! This cost me RM 20!! The price for being healthy sure is high...

The benefits of eating yogurt...

Bakery: Strawberry Bakery

Venue/landmark: Damai. Located at a large area comprising of shop houses and eateries including Tong Hing, Desa Supermarket, Coffee Bean, Pizza Hut, Burger King and Uncle Biscuit bakery.

How to look for it? Coming from another traffic light junction then this one is easier as you can just go straight after entering the left traffic light junction, you will see Strawberry Bakery on your right after a few meters only. Or better, find someone familiar with the area.

They offer bread loaves of different types, buns, pastries and cakes. The bread tends to expire before time so check daily for molds or store in fridge 2 days before due date. If you are looking for loaves with thick slices (at least 2 cm), here is one option for you.

1. Mini Cheese Tarts

Available in chocolate, blueberry and plain cheesy flavor, this mouth – bite size delights are my excuse to stop by whenever I passed the area for errands. The best are the plain ones and blueberry, the choc ones just so – so (suprisingly). The dough simply crumbles in your mouth and the cheese is in generous dollop.

2. 500g cheesecakes (birthday cakes)

A cake consisting of 2.5 cm thick of cheese layer over the sponge cake layer (which is a tad dry) with icings and oatmeal + cereals(?) sprinkles on the side . Available are plain cheese and blueberry cheese, topped with glazed fruits.

But for me, I still prefer Uncle Biscuit's cakes and Secret Recipe's cheese cakes to theirs.
