And so that ends my Penang trip this time. On going down, I snapped this picture. This is the old couch on display that used to carry up visitors to Penang Hill, now a relic of the past.

I've been to Penang countless times, be it day trip or long trips, especially after I was transferred to Ipoh for work purpose. To me, Penang is timeless, and there is always something new to discover there, be it food or places. As time passes by and you re - visited Penang, there will be slight changes here and there, making it nostalgic and exciting at the same time. This is, after all, our Pearl of Orient.

Hey ho Penang 12 ~ tea break at Bellevue Hotel on Penang Hill

Bellevue Hotel is one of those colonial hotel at Penang Hill. It's a small and quaint hotel furnished with yesteryear items,  has a panoramic view restaurant and its own Aviary Garden that stocks up on various birds and plants. The review on Tripadvisor give a mixed up impressions, and I did not stay here so I shall refrain on making any statements on the 12 rooms available here.

Hey ho Penang 11 ~ Monkeycup Garden @ Penang Hill

The Monkeycup Garden at Penang Hill  was opened up to public on 20th November 2011 by a pitcher plant @ monkeycup enthusiast. Monkeycup aside, there are also orchids, flower shrubs, ferns and walkways to delight a nature enthusiast.  During my visit, the pre-launch promotional entrance fee to the Monkey Cup Garden is RM5.00. The garden is open daily from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Hey ho Penang 10 ~ Going up the Penang Hill @ Bukit Bendera

Escaping the heat in Georgetown, we went to Bukit Bendera at the Air Itam area, also known as Penang Hill. To get to the top, you need to take a train from the station here at the base. This station has been there since 1923, some refurbishment done here and there. It used to be more antique looking when I last visited in my younger days.

Hey ho Penang 09 ~ Breakfast Day 2 @ Golden Sand Resort, Penang

On the 2nd day, breakfast was lighter for me since the buffet is pretty much the same, I took only what I did not take the day before. Plus all the durian and yesterday's food, so I thought I'll give it a rest today... So that's my pink guava juice while waiting for others at our table.

Hey ho Penang 08 ~ Nasi kandar Khaleel @ Gurney Drive!!!

Now, some people recommend Nasi Kandar Line Clear but to me I'm more comfy at a non crowded place. So we picked Khaleel Nasi Kandar along Gurney Drive for our lunch of nasi kandar.

Hey ho Penang 07 ~ Durian @ Balik Pulau!!!

I am not promoting. This is the first stall on the road and we simply stopped there, pure coincidence and spontaneous decision. What we're looking for along the road of Balik Pulau was of course, the king of fruit. Du ~ ri ~ an!!! And oh, mangosteen too since it's there.

A good breakfast make a good start for a day, especially if you're gonna roam through Penang. And Golden cafe offers quit a scrumptious fare. Good old me started with congee loaded with pickled turnips and cilantro with a dash of sesame oil.

Of course, after a wonderful gorging of seafood, the ending is dessert! Not disappointing us, the array of desserts presented by the Golden cafe's chefs were simply amazing. We have the usual butter and cream cakes, chocolate cake...

Hey ho Penang 03 ~ My Suite @ Golden Sand Resort, Tanjung Bungah, Penang

After tea, back to the room to rest before dinner. This is our Executive Suite. We are lucky to get the corner one, it faces both the pool and the sea. The view of clear blue sky merging in with the blue sea was just amazing, plus the refreshing sea breeze.

This is our hotel! This is Shangri-La’s Golden Sands Resort situated at Batu Feringgi, Penang. It has excellent view of the sea,and give off a nice beach vacation feel. Whatever you read on their website, is what you get and way better.

Hey ho Penang 01 ~ Pearl of Orient @ Penang trip again!

This is my... I lost count of my Penang trip. This trip was made at the end of the year near Christmas time so the air was rather festive, what with Bieber just releasing a Christmas CD making the girls go wild :D. Of course, along the way I must stop by at R&R Sungai Perak for lunch since they serve quite a large array of kampung food here, like the large and crispy fried anchovies.
